One of Michiana’s hidden gems can be found in plain view in downtown Bridgman, Michigan.
The shop is actually an easy find, located in a lavender-painted brick building at 4217 Lake St. A unique artisan gift shop, The Sandpiper offers beautiful hand-crafted gifts and a shopping experience designed to stimulate the senses.
Visitors can sip on a complimentary mug of fresh Sandpiper coffee while browsing through beautifully crafted “usable art” that is paired with stories about the artists who created the works.
Guests will discover samples of homemade chocolate from DW Hammond’s Chocolate and Fudge and a variety of fruit butters produced by the Dickman family’s Southwestern Michigan Buttery.
Soft, handspun, hand-dyed yarn and fiber adorn the back wall of the shop, along with one-of-a-kind garments made from the natural fibers. Once visitors have indulged in all the shop offers inside, they can slip outside and relax in the Sandpiper garden by themselves, with friends or with a book from the Little Free Library kiosk.
