GRANGER, Ind. — Five years ago, Michiana chef extraordinaire Sean Kelley accomplished a goal that many dream of the first moment they fall in love with food — opening his own restaurant.
Moving into the former home of Wine Down Bistro in Granger’s City Plaza shopping center in 2010, Kelley’s new venture, Temper Grille, featured a menu unique to the area, with dishes sprinkled with the chef’s fiery tastes and attitude.
While the food was all his own, the chef owner felt that, despite adding a few touches here or there over the years, he was still cooking out of someone’s business, he said.
Following a remodel of the restaurant earlier in the spring of 2015, the looks of the Granger destination now match the personality of its menu and its owner. With a smooth black and grey colored dining area and rustic yet modern looking bar, the new décor captures the friendly, casual atmosphere that Kelley loves to experience whenever he dines out.
“It has more of a laid-back feel now,” he said.
Leaning comfortably back into one of the black leather booths near the kitchen, casually chatting with his staff as they pass by, it’s clear to see that Kelley feels right at home with his business’ new digs.
“Now it feels like my restaurant,” Kelley said.
