Perspective. It takes things from being what they are and transforms them to how they’re viewed, and how they relate to the rest of the world.
South Bend, the city that began the same time our nation marked the end of the Civil War in 1865, celebrates its milestone 150th birthday in 2015. Dubbed “SB150,” the snappy name embodies years of perseverance, progress and a shifting perspective in what was once an industrial manufacturing hub.
The celebration takes form throughout the year in a slew of events and activities, headlined by the massive SB150 Birthday Party that welcomed tens of thousands to the city’s downtown during Memorial Day weekend.
“We believe that many of these activities — some of them that are really successful and have champions — can continue,” said Kara Kelly, communications director for the mayor’s office.
