When Jeff Reece left his hometown in Pennsylvania to earn an engineering degree at General Motors Institute in Flint, he likely had no idea that a desire to serve the Lord would be what anchored him to the Mitten State.
For the last 23 years, Reece has followed his passion for ministry by leading Hope United Methodist Church in Edwardsburg, where he has built a home for his family and a community for his parishioners.

What brought you to Michiana?
The United Methodist Church has an appointive system, so the bishop appoints the pastor to the churches. Karen and I had been serving as missionaries at Redbird Missionary Conference in southeastern Kentucky. We had been there about three years. We decided that it was time for us to come back out of the mountains.
When we asked for an appointment, the Edwardsburg church was an option and my in-laws live in Dowagiac, so we thought it would be a good place. It has turned out to be the best place we have ever been in our life.
